This, that, these, those kelimelerini, tek başlarına, isimlerin yerlerine kullanabiliriz.

"Boy" yerine, "this" yani "bu", yada "that" yani "şu", diyebiliriz.

    This is a student. (Bu bir öğrencidir.)

    That is a student. (Şu bir öğrencidir.) diyebiliriz.

    "Boys" yerine, "these" yani "bunlar", yada "those" yani "şunlar" diyebiliriz.

    These are students. (Bunlar öğrencidirler.)

    Those are students. (Şunlar öğrencidirler.)

This, that, these, those kelimelerini, isimlerle birlikte de kullanabiliriz.

    This boy is a student. (Bu çocuk bir öğrencidir.)

    That boy is a student. (Şu çocuk bir öğrencidir.)

    These boys are students. (Bu çocuklar öğrencidirler.)

    Those boys are students. (Şu çocuklar öğrencidirler.)

 

Yakınımızda olan şeyleri yada insanları göstererek konuşurken,

    Tekil olanlar için "this",

    Çoğul olanlar için "these" kullanırız.
